I look forward to the day when the definition marriage is the union of two people regardless of their sex, and no longer is marriage between two of the same sex illegal, and referred to as informal. The day when, just like any other, it’s a wedding, and that’s that. No tacking on the word ‘gay’ to define it and holding just as much legality as the straight couple down the road.

I agree with this but for as long as people are discriminated against in law we will continue to and to some extent need to use terms to describe what is being prohibited (same sex marriage). Thankfully once same sex marriage is legal everywhere it will then simply be known as marriage, and there will be no possible way to undo what has become law. Just as there would be no way to reverse interracial couples getting married now.

i don’t EVER wanna be part of a religion that would not let me watch doctor who whenever i please!
believe what you want, let others believe what they want. if u dont think marriage between two of the same sex is right - i suggest you not marry someone of the same sex! if someone else is happy in a same-sex relationship, leave them be! for fucks sake!!

When the word “marriage” is mentioned, what comes to mind?
Love, fidelity, family, partnership, commitment, monogamy?
Or maybe something more poetic: in sickness and in health, till death do us part, growing old together, the joining of two into one, a holy union?
Personally, I’m fond of calling my husband “my dearly beloved.”
These are great ideas, and I would like to think they describe my own marriage. But the reality is that none of them are necessary.
