Day 24 - The stupidest argument/comment you’ve heard about gay people or an LGBT issue

I would have to say, the classic, “If you wanted to be accepted you wouldn’t’ve chosen to be gay”. That makes me laugh to hear, just as much as it makes me want to slap whoever said it across the face.

If you seriously think I chose to be part of a minority that get’s treated like shit on a daily basis just for the heck of it or so I had a challenge in my life, you are even more stupid than I thought.

It seriously makes no sense to me how someone could say that. The only way I’d say we have a choice is if you happen to be, like me, bisexual, because then I suppose you can say you have a choice to appear “straight” or “gay” but, even then it’s not really, I don’t think. Because love will, in the end, choose for you. All comes down to who you fall for, and it just so happens that for me that could be either a man or a woman, but my preference is women so I might pursue them more because I’m more attracted to them ..but, my attraction/preference wasn’t a choice. 

I’m more attracted to women than men, that’s not something I had a say in, and honestly, if I did have a choice I probably would have chosen to be straight only because in this world it’s easier. However, I am not straight, and honestly, I am proud of my sexuality and no, I would not choose to be straight if I now had the choice, regardless of what is easier.

If you were blessed enough to be able to see the goodness or beauty in anyone, no matter there gender, and have the ability to spread love to everyone instead of just a select few consisting of the opposite gender, I think now that that’s a blessing rather than a curse. I do wish everyone could see that, no matter their sexuality, that they shouldn’t let that keep them from love, because you could’ve found your soulmate and not even realized it.

Since when is love a bad thing?
